Who are the speakers?
Dr Matthew A. Cissell, DHSc, PA-C - Surgical Physician Assistant
Dr. Cissell obtained his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, an experience he found both interesting and rewarding. However, his professional passion shifted towards healthcare, leading him to pursue a Master of Health Science from The George Washington University. This was followed by a General Surgery PA Residency Certificate from Yale University and ultimately a Doctorate of Science in Health Science from Eastern Virginia Medical School.Currently, he works as a Surgical Physician Assistant at the National Center for Plastic Surgery in McLean, Virginia, specializing in microvascular free-flap breast reconstruction. He has also founded SurgEvolve, LLC, a small business focused on developing new surgical technologies and exploring the many applications of artificial intelligence within the medical field.
Hani Sbitany - Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Hani Sbitany, MD, FACS, is a Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He is formerly of the University of California San Francisco where he was an Associate Professor of Surgery.Dr. Sbitany specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, particularly in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, regularly performing both microsurgical free tissue transfer and implant-based reconstruction in his practice. He has also helped to define new, less-invasive procedures for post-mastectomy breast reconstruction (prepectoral breast reconstruction).Dr. Sbitany has authored numerous publications and book chapters and is a previous Associate Editor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal and the Breast Surgery Section of Annals of Plastic Surgery Journal.
